Dan Salcedo

Dan is an Olympic Triathlon Head Coach, having led the Team at the Beijing Olympics, he has personally coached 1 Olympian, 2 World Champions, 5 European Champions and numerous National Champions at Elite Level. His involvement in Triathlon as an athlete and coach stretches back to 1988. During this time he has successfully coached across the full age and ability range.

Dan worked full time for British Triathlon for 9 years, the last 2 of which he was employed as Head Men's Coach leading the Men’s preparation at Olympics, World and European Championships. Previously Dan spent 7 years as the Head Coach at British Triathlon's World Class High Performance Centre in Loughborough, during which time he built it up to become the foremost Triathlon Centre in the UK. This was done alongside his role as National Potential Coach, where he designed and implemented British Triathlon’s World Leading Olympic Development Programme.

Dan has also worked as an age group coach and personal trainer in both the UK and New Zealand, with great success, helping people to achieve such varied goals as swimming 100m non stop, completing a 5k running race, finishing the New Zealand Ironman, qualifying for World Age Group Champs and winning several half Ironman events. He is also a regular expert coach on the London Triathlon first timer training days and has written for 220 triathlon magazine.

Dan has recently graduated as a UK Sport Elite Coach after a 3 yr development programme for coaches with the potential to be the driving force behind home medal success in 2012. Dan was joined on Elite Coach by a number of Olympic Medalists giving him an excellent opportunity to share coaching ideas, these include Chris Boardman (Cycling), Kate Howey (Judo), Tim Foster (Rowing) Paul Ratcliffe (Canoeing) and Ian Barker (Sailing).
